Chana Martineau

Chana Martineau is the Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC), a provincial Crown Corporation at the forefront of catalyzing Indigenous prosperity and independence through economic partnerships. With a mandate spanning Alberta’s natural resources, agriculture, transportation, and telecommunications sectors, Chana’s leadership has propelled AIOC to remarkable success. In its initial four years, AIOC facilitated over $680 million in investments across 42 Indigenous communities. This achievement led the Alberta government to triple the program’s capital allocation to an unprecedented $3 billion. In March 2024, AIOC was honoured as Resource Leader of the Year by the Alberta Chamber of Resources.

Chana brings a wealth of experience to her role, having spent over 30 years in financial services with esteemed organizations like CWB, EY, and TD. Her tenure includes strategic consulting relevant to the AIOC mandate, culminating in her Vice President position at CWB overseeing commercial banking in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Rural Alberta. Notably, she played a pivotal role on the CWB Emergency Response Leadership team during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing branch operations and external communications.

Beyond her professional achievements, Chana is a fervent advocate for Inclusion and Diversity, earning recognition for her work in empowering women in leadership roles and Indigenous communities. Her governance expertise extends to multiple board positions, including chairing the Enterprise Risk Finance & Audit Committee of a National Sport Organization, and she received her ICD.D credential from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Chana’s commitment to excellence extends to her personal endeavors, having excelled as a high-performance athlete in curling. A proud member of Frog Lake First Nation on Treaty 6 Territory, she holds a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta, rounding out her formidable leadership profile. Chana is honoured to weave her Indigeneity with her finance background in her CEO position with AIOC to help drive economic reconciliation while championing diversity and inclusion.
