We were honoured to host 52 First Nation and Metis community members (Including 28 Chiefs and 2 Metis Leaders) to the Inaugural National Coalition of Chiefs Energy Summit on April 9-10th in Calgary at the Grey Eagle Resort on the Tsuut’ina Nation reserve. Our Industry-supportive Chiefs from across Canada were able to meet with 54 industry leaders (Including 31 company Presidents, CEOs and EVPs) to discuss the creation of the National Coalition. Industry leaders were very encouraged by what they heard and seen at the Summit and are in full support of the establishment of the National Coalition.
During the past two weeks, we continue to receive very positive responses and inquiries regarding the Summit. Many Indigenous leaders who attended the Summit along with others that heard about the Summit are interested in hearing more about the formation of the National Coalition. Many have also asked for copies of Summit presentations including many requests from corporate attendees.
We were encouraged by the fact that all the Chiefs were in full support of the formation of the National Coalition. During the In-Caucus portion of the event, the Chiefs gathering to speak openly and candidly about the National Coalition. It was agreed that all of the Chiefs would work together to support the National Coalition and contribute to the recruitment of additional member Chiefs from across Canada.
